Laser-ultrasound method is successfully used for the control various materials, including ceramic meterials. The method makes it possible to determine large inhomogeneities, the heterogeneity of the structure and porosity of the ceramic.
Measurements of ultrasound velocity were carried out in an automated mode in different directions at several points. In the presented below samples anisotropy of the sound velociry in different directions was detected that may indicate a change in the local porosity in the material.
The results of automated laser ultrasonic inspection of the gluing of two ceramic plates and a comparison of these results with the X-ray image are presented below::
